Apartment Owners Cited After Turning 2-Bedrooms Into 4-Bedrooms
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- The City of Boulder has cited the owners of an apartment building for several violations after modifications were made after inspection that also left privacy among residents in question.
The owners of the Sterling University Peaks Apartments have been issued 184 citations of building code violations. Each charge carries a fine of $1,000.
Tenants were surprised last month when they showed up to move in and found that the two bedroom apartments had been converted into four bedroom apartments with a bookshelf on hinges. The city said the bookshelves were installed after inspection.
Many tenants told CBS4 they were unhappy with the changes and were not aware of them until the day they moved in.
