LAKEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4)– A 6-year-old is giving the proceeds from her apple juice and apple cider stand to help with her friend’s recovery.
Bergen Jula’s friend, Natalie, was seriously hurt in a fire on Sept. 8. Firefighters rushed to the burning home in the 9900 block of West Vassar Way.
Firefighters rescued the 5-year-old who was trapped on the second floor. She was hiding in a closet.
When asked how much longer Natalie would be in the hospital, Bergen replied, “At least a few more weeks.”
Bergen’s father, Dave, helped out but says that setting up the stand was her idea.
“She knew what she wanted, we just helped her set it up and keep her company out here,” said Dave.
“And you helped me pour,” said Bergen.
“And I helped her pour,” said Dave.
The donations came pouring in on Sunday. Even firefighters with West Metro Fire Rescue stopped by for some refreshment.
As for what Bergen will do when she sees Natalie, “Hug her.”
Bergen raised nearly $350 the first day of sales.
