DENVER (CBS4)– Supporters of a higher minimum wage gathered for a rally on the steps of the state Capitol on Tuesday.
The demonstrators are fighting for a $15 an hour minimum wage. They claim a higher minimum wage is needed nationwide because it’s too hard to raise a family with low wages.
“People cannot live on $8 or $9 an hour. It is not possible. It’s not possible to live on low wages. We need the increase,” said one supporter of the higher minimum wage.
Voters in Colorado will decide whether to raise the minimum wage in the state to $12 by 2020. Minimum wage in Colorado is $8.31.
