Woman Found Dead In Apartment After Neighbors Hear Dog Barking

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - Police are looking for answers after a woman was found shot to death inside an Aurora apartment.

The woman was found dead at the Americana Apartments located at 407 South Memphis Way Saturday morning.

A resident called police after finding the neighbor's front door open and a dog barking. Inside officers found the body of a 29-year-old woman.

"The person who called was concerned about the occupant of the apartment because the door was open," Officer Crystal McCoy with Aurora Police said. "There was a dog barking, which was what called attention to the apartment."

The victim's name hasn't been released. Neighbors told CBS4's Melissa Garcia the woman lived in the apartment with a man and their children.

One neighbor heard a gunshot early Saturday morning.

No arrests have been made.
