Car Crashes Into Day Care, 2 Children, Woman Hurt

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - A suspected hit-and-run driver crashed into a day care in Aurora on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say it all started with a report of a two-vehicle hit-and-run crash at East Yale Avenue and South Parker Road. The suspect vehicle, a blue Dodge Dart, sped away from the scene northbound on South Parker Road.

Police pursued the vehicle in an attempt to stop the vehicle but the driver continued driving, eventually pulling into the Havana Gardens shopping Center. The officer followed as the driver continued to drive erratically through the parking lot.

Police said the Dart accelerated out of the lot, across all lanes of Havana Street and into the King Soopers parking lot area where the driver struck a parked car.

The driver lost control and drove into the Bright Stars Child Care day care at 1155 South Havana Street.

The suspect driver was taken into custody and is suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.

Two children and an adult female employee were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

"The moment I was thinking of turning around, I heard a huge bang, and the car came into my office, through the lobby," Bright Stars Child Care owner Masroor Farooq said.

The name of the driver hasn't been released.
