Power Outage Forces Delta To Ground Flights Worldwide
DENVER (CBS4) - Passengers stranded at Denver International Airport Monday morning are part of a larger, global issue affecting Delta Airlines.
At approximately 2:30 a.m. eastern time, a power outage in Atlanta shut down the airline's computer systems worldwide. People have been stuck at DIA for several hours waiting for updates on their flight.
Delta published a waiver to their website, allowing passengers to get a refund if your flight is canceled or significantly delayed, or allowing a one-time change to the ticket without a penalty. Many travelers, though, don't know the status of their flight or how delayed they might be due to the airline system's power outage.
Southwest is one airline offering discounted airfare to Delta passengers.
Delta has 41 flights scheduled to leave DIA today. The company said they're anticipating large scale cancellations.
Shortly before 7 a.m., Delta began checking in some passengers at DIA.
