By Matt Kroschel

ASPEN (CBS4) - Hollywood heavyweight Elizabeth Banks took to the cobble-stoned streets of Aspen Tuesday in an effort to get residents registered to vote.

Banks' event coincided with a very exclusive $10,000 to $50,000 a ticket dinner fundraiser for Hillary Clinton in Aspen on Tuesday.

The Clintons didn't make a public appearance when they arrived in Aspen.

Banks, a major supporter for Clinton, says she wanted to help get people excited and registered to vote.

"I'm getting out the vote in Colorado," Banks told CBS4's Matt Kroschel. "It's really important, this election -- there's too much at stake to just sit on the sidelines.

"I can honestly say that I'd be involved in the political process if I were in movies or not in movies. I'm a citizen just like everybody else … I'm a really proud American."

Banks believes Donald Trump is too dangerous to be president, and that's why she was in Aspen trying to convince voters Clinton is the better choice.

"I think we have someone on the other side who has a long list of problems and not a long list of solutions," Banks said.
