Hillary Campaigns In Denver, Comments On Benghazi

DENVER (CBS4) - Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton visited Denver on Tuesday three days ahead of Republican Donald Trump.

Clinton arrived at Galvanize, a tech school and workforce facility in downtown Denver a little late on Tuesday morning.

She took time during her speech to respond to the House GOP report on Benghazi that was released Tuesday morning. It was Clinton's first public appearance since the release of the report.

"While this unfortunately took on a partisan tinge, I want us to stay focused on what I've always wanted us to stay focused on, and that is the important work of diplomacy and development. That's especially true in dangerous places. We cannot withdraw or retreat from the world," said Clinton.

She blasted the committee for spending several million dollars and two years on
what other investigations had already examined about the attack that left
four people dead.

"l leave it to others to characterize this report, but I think it's pretty clear it's time to move on," the former secretary of state said.

The report blasted the Obama administration over lax security and a slow response. Outside opinions were mixed.

"I think she had a very tough job as secretary of state and she handled it admirably," one man said.

A woman wasn't satisfied with the candidate's response.

"I just feel like things are being covered up," she said.

Clinton also said the best way to honor those who lost their lives in dangerous places is to make sure diplomats have the support they need and that it is time to move on.

"No one has thought more about or lost more sleep over the lives that we lost, the four Americans, which was devastating. We owe it to those brave Americans to make sure that we learn the right lessons from this tragedy," said Clinton.

She is also took a tour of the school and met some of the students. They told her how the school is one that can help people get into growing companies.
