Departing Plane Possibly Caused Fire Near Runway At DIA

DENVER (CBS4)- A fire, possibly caused by a departing plane, burned off the runway on the west or southwest side of the airfield at Denver International Airport on Friday afternoon.

The fire has been contained.

United Airlines 328 en route to Hawaii dumped fuel and returned to DIA. The plane taxied to the gate under its own power just after 12:30 p.m.

United Airlines spokeswoman Maddie King said Flight 328, carrying 333 passengers, landed safely Friday and passengers got off at the terminal. No injuries were reported.

What ignited the fire is being investigated but it's believed to have started when the jet took off.
