Grand Jury Indicts 17 Accused Of Belonging To Meth & Heroin Ring

DENVER (CBS4) - Seventeen people have been indicted by a grand jury on 46 counts for violating Colorado's Organized Crime Control Act.

According to Lynn Kimbrough with the Denver District Attorney's Office, all of those who were indicted are alleged members of a west Denver methamphetamine and heroin drug ring. They are "accused of multiple crimes that include solicitation to commit murder, assault, kidnapping, sexual assault, robbery, and intimidation of a witness.

"The charges allege that the defendants worked together to distribute methamphetamine and heroin at several houses in Denver, and that they committed numerous other crimes to protect and further their illegal activity," Kimbrough said in a statement.

Kimbrough said most of the defendants were already in custody and make their first court appearance on the Thursday.
