Wrong Ashes Sent To Funeral Of Army Veteran

PUEBLO, Colo. (CBS4)- A grieving family was devastated when they discovered the wrong remains had been sent to the funeral of an Army veteran.

A military honor guard was paying final respects to Army veteran William Pugliese. That's when his family realized a funeral home in Pueblo had sent the wrong urn to a cemetery in Dallas.

They saw another name on the cremation certificate.

"I think we did a whole service for this man that we don't even know," said William's sister Ramona Pugliese. "I've had sleepless nights over this."

A letter from the funeral home apologized for the mistake and refunded the entire cost of the cremation.
