U.S. Senate Hopeful Blaha Tries To Get Name On Primary Ballot
DENVER (AP) - Robert Blaha is challenging a finding by Colorado's top elections official, who said the businessman did not collect enough voter signatures to put his name on the ballot for the state's Republican U.S. Senate primary.
Blaha filed a petition in district court in Denver on Monday arguing that Secretary of State Wayne Williams wrongly rejected signatures because some gatherers' home addresses did not match the state voter registration database. Blaha also says some signatures were improperly rejected because of minor stray marks or because the paperwork did not include a notary stamp.
The petition is expected to be combined with one by Ryan Frazier, who Williams also said did not collect enough signatures to qualify for the June 28 primary.
The men are hoping for a chance to challenge Democratic U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet.
