Several Ski Resorts Close For The Season
WINTER PARK, Colo. (CBS4) - There was a festive atmosphere over the weekend at several Colorado ski resorts, many of which are now closed for the season.
The lifts at Breckenridge, Copper Mountain and parts of Winter Park closed for the ski season on Sunday.
At Winter Park the annual Spring Splash was held at the base, and a CBS4 newscaster showed some serious skills in the competition.
Meteorologist Justin McHeffey, an avid skier, made it across the pond that is set up for the event.
He was wearing a silly costume that included a straw hat (which managed to stay on), and even accomplished the feat with an open beverage in hand. Not a drop spilled.
This was the second time McHeffey has made it across the pond in the event. He also competed a few years ago.
McHeffey said he was a bit frightened by the 33 degree water, but it luckily only got on his jeans.
