'Fully Involved' House Fire Had Elementary School Officials Concerned In Glenwood Springs

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - An elementary school in Glenwood Springs nearly had to be evacuated due to a nearby house fire, according to the Post Independent.

The Post Independent reported that the fire broke out Monday afternoon at Three Mile Road and Midland Avenue on the south edge of Glenwood Springs and had officials at Sopris Elementary School scrambling to figure out how students would get home.

Instead of evacuating the school, Roaring Fork School District officials decided to arrange pickup points for students when school was regularly scheduled to get out at 3:30 p.m.

Drivers couldn't travel up Three Mile or Four Mile roads because Midland Avenue was blocked off at Park West Drive.

It's not clear if anybody was in the home that was described as being "fully involved."

There haven't been any reports of injuries.
