Spring Is Here! So Is Paving Season In Denver

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver has started its street paving work for the season. This year, crews plan to pave nearly 400 miles in the city.

The City of Denver has about $25 million for paving 396 miles. That's about $2 million more than last year's budget for resurfacing streets.

Among the issues addressed are potholes and rough or sinking pavement.

"Oh my gosh, it's so bad. Sometimes we have more grass in the cracks of the street than in our yard," said North Denver resident Annie.

Tractors were out Monday morning scraping the asphalt at East 39th Avenue and Harrison Street. It was the first stop on the tour that's going to take crews around North Denver. The tractors clear up the asphalt and roto-mill it and send it off to be recycled to be used later in more asphalt.
