Man Gets Life In Prison For 2015 Murder On Java Court
DENVER (CBS4) - A judge on Friday sentenced a man convicted in a gruesome murder to life in prison plus 48 years.
According to Lynn Kimbrough with the district attorney's office, Daniel J. Gonzales, 32, was found guilty of first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, stalking, first-degree arson, first-degree burglary and aggravated robbery.
"The victim, Francis Canham worked part time at an accounting firm, and when he failed to show up for work, police were called to conduct a welfare check. On Feb. 4, 2015, the body of the 66-year-old victim was found in a home in the 2600 block of Java Court, along with a can of gasoline, matches and what appeared to be attempts to start a fire. The victim's identification and credit cards had been stolen," Kimbrough said in a statement.
Gonzales was identified as a suspect and arrested in Orlando, Florida several days later.
