It Could Take Until Friday To Clear Rock Slide On U.S. 550 Near Durango
DURANGO, Colo. (CBS4) - It's taking longer than expected to clear a rock slide that occurred on U.S. Highway 550 near Durango over the weekend.
According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, crews have been clearing rocks on the road approximately 10 miles south of Durango.
The rocks came down on around 4:45 a.m on Sunday.
"It is estimated that about 70 dump truck loads (or 700 tons) of rock material will be hauled away," CDOT said in a statement.
The cleanup could take until Friday. Expect "some traffic holds and single-lane travel … as crews break up rocks and clear the area."
