Reward Increased For Information On 2nd Suspect In Shooting Of Jeffco Deputy

AURORA, Colo (CBS4) - The reward being offered for information leading to the arrest of the at-large suspect in the shooting of a Jefferson County sheriff's deputy has increased.

On Tuesday the Aurora Police Department announced that tipsters can now earn up to $8,000 after the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department offered up an additional $2,000 for information leading to the arrest of the second suspect who eluded capture from the shooting on Jan 26.

Deputy Jose Marquez was shot outside an apartment building in Aurora while he was off duty. He remains in the hospital, but his coworkers say his recovery process is going well.

Shots rang out and Marquez went down, although he was able to shoot and injure one of the suspects in the gunfight.

That suspect, a juvenile, was captured after he ran off, but the other suspect eluded police and is now considered at large and armed and dangerous. The only description police have released is that he is a black and was wearing a brown jacket at the time of the shooting.

Jefferson County Sheriff Jeff Shrader thanked police officers in Aurora for quickly coming to Marquez's aid.
