Broncos Cheerleader Ashley Kicks Off 2016 For Fans Everywhere

By Jayme Lamm

In my personal (and semi-professional) opinion, there is something about the Denver Broncos organization that exudes class. Perhaps it's my positive experiences whenever I visit Sports Authority Field at Mile High or the fans I've interacted with, or maybe it's just my love and admiration for all things Peyton Manning.

Whatever it is, the class and leadership seen on the field and in the stands for the Denver Broncos is equally visible and charmingly characteristic on the sidelines with the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders (DBC). Don't tell the other teams, but my interviews with the DBC are among my favorites, and I absolutely loved chatting and getting to know Ashley, a fourth-year veteran of the team, and one of this year's captains.

A self-proclaimed sports junkie, Ashley boasts a smile just as big and bright as her dance moves. She might look out-of-this-world gorgeous, but we promise she's about as down-to-earth as they come.

Even though the holidays are over, it's not too late to get the Denver Broncos fan in your life their favorite gift -- a 2016 Denver Broncos Cheerleader Calendar! And start the year off right with our interview girl, Ashley, who kicks off the year as Miss January.

Take a look at our exclusive interview with DBC (and captain!) Ashley:

CBS Local Sports: Where are you originally from?

Ashley: Born in Trenton, New Jersey.

CBS: Give me details about your day-to-day?

A: I am a busy body! During the day I work as a learning specialist and co-teacher for moderate-needs students at ThunderRidge High School. I am also in my fourth season as the head coach of the TRHS Varsity Poms team.

CBS: Have you ever gone onto the field and forgotten your routine?

A: Although I have nightmares about this happening, I am lucky to say it hasn't actually happened before! There was one game where we had two sideline routines that started with very similar beats of music, and it took me a solid two eight-counts of jump claps to realize which dance it was… pretty scary!

CBS: If you had a reality TV show, what channel would it be on?

A: ESPN of course! It's basically the only channel on TV I watch on a consistent basis… What can I say? I'm a sports junkie ☺

CBS: Miley, Taylor or Beyonce?

A: Hands down have to go with the queen… Beyonce all the way!

CBS: What song instantly puts you in a good mood?

A: "Your Love" by The Outfield… How do you not roll down the windows and scream this song at the top of your lungs when it comes on?

CBS: If I gave you two plane tickets anywhere in the world -- where are you going?

A: I would be going to Bora Bora to stay in one of those glass-floor huts on the water.

CBS: Favorite thing about your city?

A: This is Broncos Country… everything is my favorite! But if I had to pick one place of course it would be Sports Authority Field.

CBS: When I say the letter "T" what's the first word that comes to mind?

A: Teresa Shear! She was the DBC director for nearly 20 years, and that was her nickname. She helped create and build the legacy we live out everyday.

CBS: App you use most often?

A: Twitter! It's my source for all things news. So much information right at your fingertips! I help run all social media platforms for Broncos Cheer, so I am always keeping up with our Broncos and interacting with our incredible fans!

CBS: During the offseason, what does your perfect Sunday look like?

A: I love going hiking, heading up to the mountains to relax, or spending time with family and friends.

CBS: Heels or flats?

A: Flats! As a teacher, I can't imagine standing all day in heels. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy dressing up and wearing heels on occasion, but my lifestyle doesn't allow for it everyday.

CBS: Best advice you've ever been given but ignored?

A: Learn how to say no. I have the hardest time doing this, because I love being involved in everything, and I am a total people pleaser. I am in the process of learning how to pick and choose what I spend my time doing and to delegate to others.

CBS: What's your one (top-secret until now!) beauty hack?

A: Dry shampoo helps hold a curl better than any product you could ever use!

CBS: Tell me something about you people would find completely interesting?

A: I am a pretty reserved and cautious person, but when I was growing up, I rode dirt bikes with my siblings and my dad! When I tell people they usually think I'm joking, but I totally loved the thrill!

CBS: A quote or mantra you're totally vibing on right now?

A: 'Do something today that your future self will thank you for.'

CBS: Fill in these sentences:

CBS: I wish more people in this world would...

A: Smile!!

CBS: I can't get enough of...

A: The Broncos!

CBS: Yoga pants are...

A: Absolutely incredible.

CBS: The single coolest moment as an NFL cheerleader was...

A: Going to the Super Bowl!

CBS: What I love most about myself is...

A: My passion for making other people better.
