Suspect Found In Basement Trash After SWAT Situation In Wheat Ridge

WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (CBS4) - The search for a suspect Wednesday afternoon lasted late into the night for Wheat Ridge authorities.

At approximately 4 p.m., Wheat Ridge Police alerted the public that West 38th Avenue was closed from Pierce Street to Newland Street as officers searched for a suspect believed to be in a basement in the area.

One person was in custody by 4:10 p.m., but police continued looking for one more.

West Metro SWAT arrived on scene and obtained a search warrant for the house the suspect was believed to be in. Robot surveillance was deployed into the home just after 8 p.m.

Authorities entered the home just after midnight and the suspect was in custody by 2 a.m. Thursday, found hiding in the trash in a back room of the basement.

The suspect was wanted on warrants for kidnapping, felony assault, distribution of dangerous drugs and probation drugs.
