Men Claiming To Be Related To Deceased Suspect Made Possible Threat To Police
DENVER (CBS4) - Police across the metro area are on alert after a possible threat was made concerning the deadly shooting of a suspect Monday night.
Three males were said to have made threats against police to staff at the 7-Eleven store where a suspect was shot and killed. They reportedly walked in at approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday and made comments that a staff member took as threats. The three men claim to be related to the deceased.
Dispatch felt the threat was great enough to issue a bolo alert, "be on the lookout," for officer safety.
Monday night at approximately 11, Aurora police officers followed a stolen Jeep into the parking lot of this 7-Eleven, on East 11th Avenue and Yosemite Street. The Jeep had been seen over the past few days and investigators say the suspect was trying to lure officers into a pursuit.
When officers tried to pin the vehicle, the suspect began ramming police cars and the building.
Police said a dangerous situation was created with six people inside the store, a propane tank cage against the storefront, and a car with a child in it beside the suspect vehicle. Officers fired shots at the male suspect who was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.
