Gillon's Six 3-Pointers Not Enough As Rams Fall To Long Beach State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) Nick Faust scored a career-high 27 points and Long Beach State beat Colorado State 83-77 on Thursday night.

Faust, who played three years at Maryland, had five 3-pointers. A.J. Spencer and Travis Hammonds added 14 points each with Hammonds grabbing 10 rebounds.

Two free throws by Gian Clavell got the Rams within three, 78-75, with 55 seconds left. After a 49ers free throw, Faust made a steal and passed to Gabe Levin for a dunk and an 81-75 advantage with 14 seconds left.

Long Beach (4-4) snapped a four-game losing streak while the Rams (5-2) lost their second straight.

Colorado State's John Gillon scored a career-high 28 points with six 3-pointers. He made all eight of his free throws but the Rams were only 23 of 39 from the line, with the 49ers hitting 10 of 16. Clavell added 20 points and 15 rebounds and Emmanuel Omogbo 15 points and 11 boards.
