Number Of Patients Admitted To Hospital In Planned Parenthood Shooting

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4) - Civilians and officers injured in a shooting at Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs on Friday were taken to area hospitals.

At least six patients were taken to the Penrose Hospital, and three others were taken to Memorial Hospital.

Penrose Hospital is a Level 2 Trauma Center about one mile from the shooting scene. Surgeons were prepared and blood bags were on hand to give blood transfusions.

Eleven people were injured in the incident, five of which were in law enforcement.

Several police cars were outside and officers were seen carrying large boxes into the emergency room.

One officer hit in the shooting is doing fine and did not require surgery, according to a family member. Conditions of the injured are unknown.
