Sketch Released Of Man Wanted In Break-Ins, Attempted Sexual Assault

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Colorado Springs hope a sketch of a man wanted in break-ins and attempted sexual assaults will lead them to a break in the case.

"She kept telling him to leave her alone, 'Leave me alone, leave me alone.' And eventually he was in bed with her," said child's father.

Police believe the same man is responsible for two break-ins on Monday night but was prevented from a third attempt. Police say based on their investigation, this man has a history of indecent exposure and other crimes.

The Colorado Springs Police Department released a sketch of what the predator looks like. He's described as a bald white male in his 40s or 50s, with a stocky neck and hair on his chin. He walks with a limp, and was last seen driving a light-colored minivan.

Police say the youngest victim is a 9-year-old girl who was asleep in the bedroom she shares with her younger sister in the Canyon Ridge Mobile Home Park in the 5100 block of Airport Road, Colorado Springs.

"It was about two in the morning and we were woken up by my daughter's screaming," her father said. "Came in the room and she's just hysterically screaming about some guy was in here."

The suspect ran away before the girl's parents came into her room. Another victim believes he made his way to her home about two miles away a short time later.

"About three o'clock in the morning, I was sleeping right here and I felt somebody reach in and grab me. I screamed twice and then I looked out the window and he was just walking away all nonchalantly," the woman said. "He just walked away. He didn't even run away like you'd think he would. He just walked away."

Police are investigating whether he lingered in the area for a couple more hours after the woman's neighbor said she may have seen the same man at her window at 5:30 a.m.

Colorado Springs police urge anyone who saw the man matching the description to call police at 444-7000 or Crime Stoppers at 719.634.STOP.
