Anderson: 'We've Just Got To Do Our Job' To Help Osweiler Out

DENVER (CBS4) - For the first time since most of the players on the Broncos current roster arrived in Denver, Peyton Manning won't be starting at quarterback in a regular season game this weekend.

Sunday's matchup with the Bears will of course feature Brock Osweiler at QB, Manning's backup for the past 3-and-a-half years.

Running back C.J. Anderson said there seems to be some high expectations for Osweiler.

"People act like Brock has to go out there and throw six touchdowns," he said on the CBS4 Football Blitz. "Nah, we've just got to do our job on offense to help him out."

"If he makes the right throws in the right situations and we run the ball well we'll be fine."

Chris Harris, also a guest on the CBS4 Sports show, said from his perspective as a defensive back Osweiler has been showing plenty of confidence in practice.

"He looks comfortable. He makes sure he's communicating loudly, and that's what you need," Harris said. "He should go out there and make plays.

Anderson said all that practice Osweiler has had running the offense on Wednesdays has prepared him well for his first start.

"He looks at (Demaryius Thomas) and Emmanuel (Sanders) and myself and Ronnie (Hillman) and everybody up front and ... he's not looking at us with those eyes like 'What do I do? What do I call?' He's confident. He's getting us the play. He's getting us in and out of the huddle. His preparation is great," Anderson said.

The Broncos and the Bears kick off on Sunday at 11 a.m. Watch it on CBS4.
