Teen With Gun Arrested, Suspected Of Terrorizing Loveland Children

LOVELAND, Colo. (CBS4)- A teenager has been arrested after allegedly breaking into a home with a gun and assaulting a teenage girl inside. Loveland police believe the suspect may be responsible for other crimes in the neighborhood.

Police received a 911 call on Wednesday evening from a young man who lived in the home on West 11th Street. He told dispatchers that an armed and masked man had broken into his home.

During the home invasion the male's teenage sister came home and was allegedly assaulted by the suspect.

Neighbors say police officers swarmed the neighborhood a short time later.

"I don't know how to feel, I'm more scared. I won't leave my house unlocked," said neighbor Melissa Thompson.

Sources told CBS4's Jennifer Brice that around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, phone pinging among other investigative tactics, helped police find the 17-year-old suspect. Those sources also say evidence found on the suspect may indicate it's not his first burglary.

Police in Loveland are looking at the suspect in relation to other crimes.

"He's believed to be associated to some break-ins and car burglaries in the area. We're asking the public if they were a victim to report the crime," said Loveland Police Sgt. Jeff Pyle.

The teen suspect is facing serious charges that include aggravated burglary, kidnapping, sexual exploitation of a child and sexual assault. More charges could be added as the investigation continues. The district attorney's office will make that decision once they get the case.
