Dunkin' Donuts Responds To Starbucks Red Cup Drama With Festive Design

By Heather Sadusky

DENVER (CBS4) - In response to the stir over Starbucks' supposed lackluster holiday cups, Dunkin' Donuts has released one of their own, complete with holiday symbols.

The "red cup" at Starbucks signifies to many that the holidays have arrived. This year's cup, however, lacked themed designs such as snowmen and winter trees, prompting an outrage from some on social media that the holiday cheer had been removed. Some went as far as to call it a "war on Christmas."

Starbucks said their goal with a plain red cup is to be inclusive to all religions.

Dunkin' Donuts is now entering the drama with a release of their own holiday cup.

It features the word "Joy" in bold red letters surrounded by a wreath of holly leaves. Many on social media support the holiday design, and voice their preference for Dunkin' Donuts over Starbucks due to the festive cup.

Dunkin' Donuts is one of many businesses in Colorado offering deals to military members for Veterans Day.
