Woman Fatally Burned At Bar She Owns; Patrons Doused In Flames

RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) — Police in Wyoming are investigating the death of a woman who caught fire while working at the bar she owned. She died at a hospital in Colorado.

Rawlins Police Chief Troy Palmer says 47-year-old Denise King Martinez died from burn injuries she suffered at the County 6 Bar early Tuesday.

Palmer said Friday that bar patrons doused the flames. Martinez died of her wounds at a northern Colorado burn center. Autopsy results are pending.

Palmer refused to say whether foul play had been ruled out. He declined to say if an accelerant was involved but did say there have been no arrests.

Palmer earlier told the Rawlins Daily Times that there was no reason for residents to believe a suspect was at large.

An estimated 9,300 people live in Rawlins, located about 130 miles west of Cheyenne.
