With Packers Bar Still Damaged, Die Hards Gather At Stadium

DENVER (CBS4) - The Green Bay Packers are known to have fans across the country, and the Mile High City is certainly one hotspot for Cheeseheads.

Up until this year, a bar on Highway 93 between Golden and Boulder has been where you would find many Green Bay fans on a Sunday in the fall, but the beloved Packers bar was badly damaged by a fire in July.

The Rocky Flats Lounge is still too badly damaged to reopen, so with the Green & Gold coming to Denver for a Sunday night matchup with the Broncos, the bar's regulars gathered at Sports Authority Field at Mile High instead.

At least 100 die-hards made the best of their situation in the parking lot, tailgating and passing out koozies that said: Wind, Fire, Floods We're Still Serving Suds.

Many said they couldn't afford tickets, so they planned to watch the game from the lot.

"We're just out here to support Rocky Flats. We're not open at the bar, so we figured the next best place to have a party would be out in the stadium parking lot," said Steve Gennon, one of the bar's employees.

The group was just a small sea of the ocean of Packers fans who showed up for the game Sunday night.
