Snow, High Winds Shut Down Most Of Trail Ridge Road

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colo. (AP) — The main road through Rocky Mountain National Park is closed to through traffic for the winter.

Much of Trail Ridge Road was closed Friday, a week later than the average seasonal closure date of Oct. 23. Acting park superintendent Ben Bobowski says snow continues to blow and drift on the road, making snow clearing work and driving dangerous.

The closure starts at the Colorado River Trailhead on the west side of the park and Many Parks Curve on the east side. The most popular destinations in the park at this time of the year, including Moraine and Horseshoe parks, are still accessible.
