Hanging Halloween Decor Removed After Complaints
LEADVILLE, Colo. (CBS4)- What some described as a decoration that was too creepy for Halloween, a mannequin hanging from a street light, was removed from a neighborhood in Leadville.
The hanging decoration was found on Mt. Lincoln in West Park with a rope around its neck and seemed to have the hands bound behind its back.
Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff's Office removed the decoration. It is unclear who hung it from the street light but it sparked a lot of conversation in the community.
On the Leadville Today Facebook page, there were several comments including this one from Adam Caimi, "This is an action of hate, and those responsible should be charged with a hate crime."
"With the stories of actual murdered bodies being mistaken for Halloween props, better to take it down," wrote Doug Marrin.
Others didn't find it offensive.
"I can see how some find it disturbing and agree it should be taken down... but I don't think it's that bad," wrote Rick Sievers.
The mannequin was wearing an orange T-shirt and shorts with long black socks.
