Arapahoe County Inmate In Mental Health Program Dies

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) — An inmate in an Arapahoe County program for the mentally ill was found dead over the weekend.

The 33-year-old man was found dead in his condo Sunday night after his wife, who had been staying in a separate location, called sheriff's deputies because she had not heard from him.

The man, whose name has not been released, was participating in the Arapahoe Diverts Mentally Ill to Treatment program, also known as ADMIT.

A second man found at the condo was taken to a local hospital, but sheriff's investigators did not say why.

The man who died was serving a sentence for violating a protection order. He began the program in June and was expected to graduate in November. Sunday's death marks the second in the program in six weeks.
