CSU Coach Mike Bobo Says Lessons Need To Be Learned From Showdown Loss

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- It was a big game, the biggest rivalry in Colorado, and the CU Buffs emerged victorious in overtime over the CSU Rams on Saturday.

A crowd of 66,000 saw an exciting back and forth Rocky Mountain Showdown this year between the two Colorado schools who have enjoyed a rivalry for more than 100 years.

CSU led 14-0 at one point but CU battled back and eventually won in overtime.

It was the first rivalry game for new CSU Coach Mike Bobo who has spent his career mostly with Georgia in the SEC.

Granted, this contest may not have the national prestige of a Georgia-Florida rivalry, the one Bobo is so accustomed to after being a quarterback and longtime assistant coach for the Bulldogs, but he said it did not disappoint.

"I wouldn't say that Georgia- Florida was that much better, that was an awesome atmosphere, really, for our players to play in. And a great test and we've got to learn from the test that we didn't pass," said Bobo.
