Southern Utah Overpowers Northern Colorado 30-3

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) - Ammon Olsen passed for 250 yards and ran for two touchdowns to lead Southern Utah to a 30-3 win over Northern Colorado on Saturday night.

Keita Calhoun kicked three field goals, including a 36-yarder to end the first half, as Southern Utah (1-2, 1-0 Big Sky) rebounded from last week's 55-10 loss to South Dakota State with five interceptions to thwart Northern Colorado and hand the Bears their first defeat of the season.

Olsen scored on a 19-yard run in the first quarter and then kept the ball again on the Thunderbirds' next possession to slip in from the 1 for his second TD, capping a 55-yard drive. The only score in the second half came when Mike Needham intercepted Jacob Knipp's pass and returned it 27 yards for a touchdown to pad Southern Utah's lead.

Stephen Miller had 111 yards on six catches for Northern Colorado (2-1, 0-1).
