SWAT, K-9 Search For Driver In Car Chase Yields No Suspect

GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - Police focused their search for a car chase suspect at a home in Golden early Wednesday morning.

It began Tuesday night when Colorado State Patrol troopers attempted to pull over a pickup truck coming out of Clear Creek Canyon for a traffic violation. The driver did not stop and instead sped away.

CSP attempted a pit maneuver to stop the truck, but the driver continued into Golden in the damaged truck.

Officers followed the truck to 19th Street and Illinois Avenue and searched for the driver after he abandoned the truck in an alley. A perimeter was established near the Colorado School of Mines, but the suspect could not be found.

The truck proved to be a stolen vehicle out of Aurora.

Golden police did receive a phone call from a man who said his girlfriend told him there was an intruder in her house. Officers responded to the home but found no intruder.

At 12:20 a.m. Wednesday, Golden police sent out a reverse 911 call to nearby residents, advising them that police were searching for a suspect and urging them to stay inside with locked doors.

After a thorough search involving Jefferson County SWAT and the use of K-9s, the suspect was not found. There is no suspect description and the investigation is ongoing.
