Colorado Rockies 2016 Schedule Includes Yankees, Blue Jays

DENVER (CBS4)- The Colorado Rockies announced their schedule for the 2016 Major League Baseball Season which includes games against the New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays.

The 2016 Rockies 162-game schedule opens on the road at Arizona for a three-game series before returning home to Coors Field for the home opener against the San Diego Padres at 2:10 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016.

The Rockies will play their first nine and 25 of their first 35 games of the season against their division foes from the National League West.

The Rockies Interleague schedule has them playing all five American League East teams for the first time since 2013, along with the American League West's Texas Rangers for the third consecutive year. Colorado will host the New York Yankees (June 14-15), Toronto Blue Jays (June 27-29), Tampa Bay Rays (July 18-20), and Texas Rangers (August 8-9). The Interleague road schedule begins with a trip to Boston (May 24-26), then Yankee Stadium (June 21-22), Baltimore (July 25-27) and Texas (August 10-11).

The annual fireworks shows are scheduled for Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9 after games against the Philadelphia Phillies, as well as Friday, September 30 after the game against the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rockies will play 17 home games in August, their most in any month, followed by September/October with 15 total home games (13 in September, 2 in October). The schedule also includes an 11-day, nine-game road trip to St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Boston, May 16-26.

The Rockies will play the standard 19 games against each of their four National League West division rivals, hosting 10 games against the Arizona Diamondbacks and nine games against the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants.
