Shots Fired At Light Rail Station, 1 Taken To Hospital

DENVER (CBS4) - A fight broke out at the Auraria West light rail station Wednesday night and ended with shots fired.

The shooting happened around 10 p.m. at 1250 5th Street on the Auraria Campus.

Two people were reportedly harassing riders on the train, asking for money from at least four people. One victim offered a credit card, but it wasn't taken.

The two suspects had a gun and pistol whipped one of the riders.

When everyone exited at the Auraria West station, three shots were fired by one of the suspects but the gun ended up on the ground. Somehow one of the suspects ended up shot in the abdomen. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police are looking for the other suspect.

Police say they are not searching for anyone else and that the incident is gang related.

The Auraria West station was closed for several hours.
