Burglary Suspect Arrested After Chase Through Cornfields

GREELEY, Colo. (AP/CBS4) — A burglary suspect who eluded authorities for seven hours in Weld County has been caught after he was chased through cornfields.

The Weld County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that the suspect led deputies on a lengthy foot pursuit. It took numerous agencies to locate the man and take him into custody.

The manhunt began early Friday when a Weld County deputy tried to pull over an SUV at an oil and gas tank battery site. A short car chase ensued, which came to an end when the suspect crashed and fled through cornfields.

The chase led to a lockout at nearby Mead High School. The lockout was lifted after the school was searched and the suspect captured.

The suspect was identified as Dallas Gonzales, 34, of Wyoming.
