Huge Bee Hive To Be Removed From Church Attic

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- A huge bee hive with tens of thousands of bees and several gallons of honey was discovered in the attic of a church in Boulder after a music group noticed bees showing up at their rehearsal.

A beekeeper will begin relocating the eight foot wide and three foot tall hive on Friday.

"He's going to cut through the ceiling of our music classroom to get in and remove the hive and relocate it to a place where they can live peacefully and we'll get our rehearsal space back," said Cathy Compton with the Pine Street Church.

"We're going to take all this comb and all the babies in here and all the bees and we'll put it into a brand new bee hive," said beekeeper Gregg McMahan.

It will cost about $2,500 to move the hive. The Pine Street Church has raised nearly all the money through a GoFundMe page.
