Kidnapping Suspect Ordered Teen To 'Shut Up And Drive'

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Authorities along the Front Range are searching for a kidnapping suspect who told a 16-year-old to "Shut up and drive" him from Jefferson County to Pueblo.

The victim, a teenager, stopped at a King Soopers located at 25637 Conifer Road about 3:45 p.m. on Aug. 20. He was on his way home.

When he returned to his Jeep Wrangler and got inside, he noticed the rear passenger door was open and an adult male inside. The man told the teen he had a gun and ordered him to "Shut up and drive."

The suspect told the victim to drive him to Pueblo because he was out of money and lost his ride. The victim was frightened and complied.

The victim stopped for gas at a Shell Gas Station in Colorado Springs and then continued on to Pueblo. The victim was ordered to stop at an ATM and withdraw money from his account and give it to the suspect.

The suspect ordered the victim to stop at a residence and wait outside. Again the victim complied. The suspect then returned to the car and told the victim to drive away.

A couple of blocks later the suspect told the victim to pull over and then he got out of the Jeep and ran away. The victim called 911 and reported the incident to Pueblo Police.

The victim described the suspect as a white male, 18-23 years old, 6-foot, skinny build with a bony face, "high and tight" short brown hair, discolored teeth, multiple tattoos from his shoulders to his elbows, across his back and a tattoo shaped like a necklace around his neck.

The suspect wore blue jeans and no shirt. The victim also described the suspect's voice as high and nasally, possibly having some sort of speech impediment.

Investigators examined surveillance video and photos from the gas station.

Anyone with information regarding this crime or the suspect is urged to contact the Jeffco Sheriff's Office tip line at 303-271-5612, or call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
