Crews found the skull Wednesday in the 10000 block of Old Pueblo Road while trying to install a drainage pipe.

The El Paso County coroner's office estimates the child was between 12 and 16 when she died.

State Archeologist Thomas Carr said the girl possibly died several hundreds of years ago or perhaps even several thousands of years ago, and it's possible there are more remains buried there.

State officials say they moved the skull to the History Colorado Center in Denver.

According to a statement from the State Archaeologist's office, the "ultimate goal will be repatriation to the appropriate Native American tribe or tribes for reburial."
