Denver Victim, Others Identified In Plane Crash In Wyoming
CODY, Wyo. (AP) — Four people who died in a plane crash Saturday in northwest Wyoming have been identified.
Officials from the Park County Sheriff's Office say the pilot was 66-year-old Donald Edward Scott from Denver. Scott's friend Joyce Bartoo from Washington D.C. also was on the plane.
Scott's sister, 68-year-old Diane Jean Stubbs, and her 69-year-old husband Gerald Bruce Stubbs, both from Annapolis, Maryland, also died in the crash.
The 1979 Cessna had left the airport in Sheridan around 11 a.m. and was headed to Billings, Montana.
The plane strayed from its flight path and circled Yellowstone National Park after which Scott was told to climb to 14,800 feet. Soon after, the plane suddenly turned east and went into a steep descent.
The bodies have been taken to Billings for autopsies. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating.
