Colorado Law Enforcement Uses Dragon Boat Festival To Recruit

DENVER (CBS4) - Big crowds came out for the Colorado Dragon Boat Festival over the weekend.

The festival is an annual event celebrating the state's Asian communities.

The two-day event started Saturday at Sloan's Lake Park. People could sample authentic Asian cuisine and watch several performances.

The highlight of the event was the dragon boat races. More than 40 teams competed.

Law enforcement used the event to recruit.

"We do have the Aurora Police Department, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Department, Denver Police Department; they're all here as well all doing recruiting," event organizer Erin Yoshimura said. "I think they really want to reach a very diverse crowd."

It was the 15th year for the event.
