United Airlines Services Returning To Normal At DIA After Systems Failure

DENVER (CBS4) - United Airlines experienced a systems failure that affected operations at Denver International Airport and other airports across the country Tuesday morning.

All United flights were grounded nationwide by the Federal Aviation Administration from approximately 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. The glitch hit the share system which affects reservations and check-ins.

The check-in line was still longer than usual Wednesday afternoon but nothing like in the morning when hundreds of people waited to check in for delayed flights.

The airline said "connectivity issues" were to blame.

At the height of the glitch United tweeted out this statement: "We experienced a network connectivity issue. We are working to resolve and apologize for any inconvenience."

In less than two hours the FAA had lifted the ground stop order and flights began taking off again.

Still some frustrated passengers say communication wasn't handled well.

"Right now I'm giving United a D grade for lack of information," one traveler said at DIA. "It would be nice if somebody would walk up and down and make sure I'm in the right line."

CBS4 reached out to United for a comment but has not heard back.

Wednesday's glitch was the second one in two months for the airline.
