"It's cool that their noticing," Arenado told CBS4 on Monday night. "The All-Star Game is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

Arenado said his coach Walt Weiss called him and told him the news.

"He called me in the morning and he just said 'I just want to tell you, you're going to Cincinnati,' and it was awesome," he said. "I called my parents right after."

Arenado said he would consider taking part in the Home Run Derby before the game if he is invited. He currently has 24 home runs.
