With South Platte Lowered, Search Resumes For Sheridan Tuber

DENVER (AP) — With water levels temporarily lowered on the South Platte River, searchers are once again looking for a missing tuber near Sheridan.

Releases from Chatfield Dam were slowed Tuesday morning to temporarily drop the level of the river by about a foot.

A dive team from the Denver Fire Department is searching the water for a 20-year-old man who fell off his inner tube on Saturday.

With the water level lowered, fire spokesman Mark Watson says the teams are now able to check areas that weren't safe to search earlier. They have until noon before water levels rise again after dam releases are returned to normal.

Meanwhile, a portion of the Arkansas River near Pueblo is closed to tubing and rafting following the death of a tuber there on Sunday.
