Driver Pulls Into Car Wash, Gunmen Pull Up & Open Fire

DENVER (CBS4)- A woman was surprisingly unharmed after she parked her vehicle inside a car wash and two cars pulled up next to her and opened fire.

Police in Denver are searching for the gunman after Saturday night's attack.

There are still shards of glass on the ground at the self-service car wash at Hampden and Yosemite.

The driver pulled inside one of the stalls about 9 p.m. when she said two cars pulled up next to her and opened fire, shattering glass and leaving her car riddled with bullets, before the cars sped away.

The woman was badly shaken but not hurt.

The incident has left neighbors with many questions.

"I've washed my car there many times, many times," said resident Melissa Fisher.

Fisher lives just a few hundred feet from the car wash and fears for her 8-year-old twins, "We walk over there all the time with our dogs around the neighborhood, kids bike over there. It just scares me."

Investigators have not released a possible motive for the shooting until detectives finish interviewing the victim.

As police search for clues in the crime, Fisher said she and her neighbors want some answers, "Hopefully there was a reason and it wasn't just something random because... it's pretty freaky."

Anyone with information about the shooting at the car wash is asked to call the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000 or
