Denver's Comic Con Has Different Focus Than Others Across The Nation
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver's fourth annual Comic Con is in full swing and organizers say they expect nearly 100,000 attendees this year.
For 6-year-old Audrey Ward, going to Denver's Comic Con with her sister and father is a yearly tradition.
"I love comics," Audrey said.
She and everyone there loves comics. The costumes are also a big draw.
"People spend their entire year building it just for this event and creating their costumes. Everything from Anime characters to movie characters like Iron Man and Bat Man," said Bruce MacIntosh, Comic Con Director of Programming.

Organizers say they're now seeing more families, which they love because the focus of Denver's Comic Con is actually on children.
"Unlike any other Con in the county, there are a lot of Comic Cons that are similar, but our focus is education," MacIntosh said.
Proceeds from the three-day event go to Pop Culture Classroom. The nonprofit aims to improve literacy in children with the use of comics and pop culture through after-school events and programming.
Meanwhile, Audrey says she loves comic books because she never loses her place when reading.
"It's easier because then you don't have to go, 'Where was I? Where was i?' " she said.
Organizers say they're also expanding the literacy program to county jails and with yearly attendance skyrocketing. They said they hope the impact keeps pace.
Comic Con continues through Monday at the Colorado Convention Center.
