Byers Fire Department Loses Only Ambulance In Scary Flood Situation

MORGAN COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - An ambulance carrying a patient with four others on board that got swept away by water early Sunday morning was the only ambulance an Adams County town's fire department had.

Everyone was able to get out of the ambulance safely but the ambulance belonging to the Byers Volunteer Fire Department remains submerged in floodwaters in Morgan County.

The department says it will have to make do without an ambulance because it was the only one they had.

According to Karen Williams with the Byers Fire Department, along with the patient the others on board were a family member and three firefighters. She said the driver could see the road as he ventured into the water and "wouldn't have driven into it if he couldn't see it."
