Colorado Father Brings Daughters Home After 5-Year Custody Battle
DENVER (CBS4) - A Colorado father brought his two little girls home after a five year custody battle with his ex-wife in Argentina.
The mother took the girls to South America in 2010, against the orders of a Colorado judge.
After years of appeals in the Argentinian court system, a judge ordered the girls were to return home with their dad and mom. Before leaving for the US, however, the father was attacked by his ex-wife's brother at the airport.
The girls have now finally made it home with their father.
Dennis Burns, the father, said, "I think the girls are right now very confused, and in time they're going to see that having a mother and father in their lives is the most important thing."
The legal battle isn't over as the courts must now come up with a new custody agreement.
